Years ago, I read a few articles on L. Ron Hubbard’s books and about some of the supposed technical details/jargon in the so called religion. All of what I read caused me to immediately discount this supposed belief system as lame science fiction, at best.
I recently watched the Southpark episode "Trapped In A Closet" (A parody on Scientology and poking fun at Tom Cruise, John Travolta and R. Kelly) and after laughing hysterically I decided to do a little revisit on Scientology / Hubbard to see how close they were in portraying this *lame* religion.
Being a fan of general science, technology and of good science fiction, I still don’t see how anyone can buy into any of the crap Lafayette Ron Hubbard and his lame followers believe. I’ve come to realize that it’s actually offensive to call this crap Science Fiction, it’s very lame fantasy at best. Although it’s funny reading about his son contradicting him and of his early pre-scientology quotes.
It seems more like he was a failing Science-Fantasy writer who decided to slap on some *modern* science to start a religion / business. I mean come on, an alien ruler steals the soles of other aliens, and flew them to earth on space planes that look similar to a DC-8 jets.
Oh yeah and when L Ron Finally “discarded his body” to do “higher level spiritual research (or die of a stroke) they found high levels of a psychotropic drug in his body. So 8 million (according to Co$ PR) or 50,000 (probable actual number) people are following the rantings of a hallucinating drug addict!
Here are a few good links I ran across:
Wikipedia: L. Ron Hubbard
Wikipedia: Space Opera in Scientology Doctrine
Operation Clambake (the original website I read years ago, which helped to set my distaste for the whole Scientology / Co$ thing.):
Enjoy, and watch that South Park Episode, their (comical) animation during the telling of the Doctrine of Scientology is a priceless blow to all those in the Co$.
