I ran across this article a few weeks back. It grabbed my attention.
NTT Do Co Mo, one of the largest phone companies in the world is developing technology which can be used to enhance video games and bring a more realistic physical sense to the games. The author of the article actually tested this *technology* and described his experience as being "unnerving and exhausting." The device sends short low voltage pulses into the inner ear causing all sorts of reactions.
I guess it’s not a big deal but it still makes me feel uncomfortable is that a *video game* accessory could cause such a disturbance and leave the user to feel out of control for a moment. I read up a bit more on this company and found they are doing a lot of research on stuff like this. There are PDF press releases / technical documents suggesting other uses and descriptions, of course they are selling it as improvements for mobile communications. Also the names of the technology and the photos of the leads of the projects are pretty crazy sounding and funny looking.
How connected do you need to feel to your electronics?
