I’m kind of tired of the hype surrounding the iPhone (give ‘em hell Cisco). I think too many people are excited about it and they probably don’t know why they are (stupid pop culture/good job marketing apple!) This was on Conan the other night and I think it pretty much sums it up.
Initially I was excited as is most of the world. I followed the live coverage of the MacWorld Keynote… then once all the technical details came out and I was able to watch the full video of the Keynote I realized this phone is not ready for my consumption yet. Here are my major initial gripes:
#1 it is missing a 3G radio, wtf Apple?
#2 not convinced about multi-touch and having only a screen to type on (FINGERPRINTS and I don’t buy the smart unintended touches technology)
#3 Way too expensive!
#4 It’s missing a camera for the front of the phone… can you say video chat (though 3G would be required)
#5 Unlike most smartphones and PDAs you can’t install your own software on to it, apple will be required to allow or disallow applications for the phone (BOOO!).
#6 Looks like it’ll scratch like a mofo
Kudos for Apple trying to innovate in the PDA/Smartphone market… as a PDA Phone owner I say: give ‘em hell apple.
Can’t say I’m that interested. Only holds 8 gigs (I think) so it’s hardly a ipod video replacement…
I dunno, I’ve got my 2 year old cell phone that works, my mp3 player for the car, and watching movies on a little screen sucks the big one.
