Despite it being hot I did a ton of stuff.
Movies watched over the Friday (evening) - Monday holiday weekend:
Blades of Glory: Amusing and very silly.
The Lives of Others: German Language, English subtitled, 2006 Foreign Oscar winner, interesting story takes place during a divided Germany before the wall fell, good movie.
Reign Over Me: Really enjoyed this movie, Sandler did well, story was decent and the soundrack/music theme is good. Reminded me a little of Punch Drunk Love probably due to Sandler starring in both and playing a dark/demented character.
Back To The Future: Seen it many times but we re-watched it in High Definition and it’s still good.
The Lookout: A little predictable in parts but still worth watching, unique twist/story on a bank robbery movie, plus Jeff Daniels was awesome as the blind friend (and he had a sweet beard).
Saturday was a day of good intentions though not much actually was accomplished. Had a false start with the intention of helping a friend move. Made a few (extra) trips to the Hub to pickup/drop off stuff. Visited the Backpack giveaway on Eucalyptus street and jump started a car. Helped Tim buy and move a Fridge to his apartment. Had dinner and relaxed with a movie.
Sunday brought an early morning picking up our new speakers at the Hub with Tim. The new speakers sounded amazing and totally widened the range our system can now produce. Good service and a great band on Sunday, I was proud. Only bummer was we had to loan our soundboard (amps and old speakers) to another church for their Labor Day event and had to completely undo our cabling, hopefully the board makes it back in one piece and early enough so we can set it back up for next Sunday.
Had lunch (+2 few Sierra Nevada’s) with friends at the Claim Jumpers. Attempted to return Tim’s broken fridge but time wasn’t going to allow us to make it back so we scrapped the plan. Stopped by Lakewood (it had been a while) to talk with Ian, see some faces I hadn’t seen in a while and check out their upgraded system. Hung out for a few songs and left for RockHarbor in time to make it to their 7pm service. Good service, awesome band! Had dinner and came home.
Monday finally brought the real moving day so I helped Mr. Truck move from a storage unit to his new apartment in Belmont Shore. (Which is a much better choice than 10k Imperial!!) After I helped Tim finally return his broken fridge. Came home and BBQ’d steaks and scallops and settled down with a movie.
I guess I did labor quite a bit. The only thing I intended to do for labor day was to BBQ a pork roast, but with the hot weather I decided any extra time outside hanging out by the hot BBQ just wasn’t going to happen!
