So why don’t you go visit and you might see pictures of his adorable daugter! Welcome David (and presumably Gina) to the blog, now your life will never be the same!
I made a quick video from a few quick clips from recent visits of our newest (newborn) friends, Charlotte and Emma. They are both so small and cute, Dominic take note! But you’ll have to wait 18 years or so to start dating! :)
Today was our Family Baby Shower held at the Pizza House.

There were probably 35 people at peak (mostly women). I showed up about an hour and a half into it and came just in time for the tail end of food. We had a great spread of food like usual and it was a fun time. I am overwhelmed with the generosity of those who came today, we got a lot of nice and thoughtful stuff.

After the shower we returned home with both my truck and Lori’s car filled / packed tightly (should’ve got a picture, it was a bit comical) and we unloaded all the stuff into Dominic’s room and began to loosely sort stuff. We have a crib full of diapers that will need to be sorted and packed into our hall closet and we will have to start washing his mountain of cute clothes and begin putting them away, woo Memorial Day!

I must say it’s all really starting to feel very real and I’m getting super exciting and nervous waiting for the moment of birth to arrive, or as I’ve dubbed it, it’s like waiting for ticking time bomb to explode!
¡Odelay Vero! Cuz like, Dominic gots his new Doyers clothes, and pretty soon he’s going to get his black sunglasses, his knee high socks and then he’s going to grow a weak mustache and then he’s going to want to take his little `Charo` to a game, fool! So you tall her she better be ready, all right?

Congrats to Gina and David on the birth of their adorable baby girl, Emma Rose Higginbotham! Rest well, you sure have earned it! OH and she totally looks like Gina, Sorry DAVID! :)
which is probably mostly due to the crappy band and the mo-ron sound tech who had the level up WAY to high while the guitarist doing some noise / tuning thing…
Last night Rich, Don and I went to see The Vandals as the HOB in Anahiem. The Vandals were great and reminded me of a few things. Warn is a great guitarist and all-around funny dude. Josh Freese is still an amazing drummer who can keep PERFECT timing and he reminds me that I’m feeling WAY overdue to see Devo again (he’s the drummer for Devo also). I felt like I was 18 again though the same dudes 10+ years ago were much crazier but still very entertaining.
Rich, Michelle and I started off the evening by going into Disneyland to grab a bite and we ended up riding the Pirate ride. Being back in the park and walking around further put me in a nostalgic mood. I have some crazy stories and memories of working there I should write about sometime before I forget!
With baby coming soon, I guess I’m starting to feel old and nostalgic! So it was nice to go to a concert and see the same performers you watched and listened to while in High School and College.
After getting home and laying down for bed (my ears were still buzzing and I was still a bit wound up) I reflected on the evening and thought about life before I was married and now about to have a baby.
I have to say I do miss or feel nostalgic of my crazy and carefree *youth* days from time to time but I realize I like them better as memories and not as the present. I don’t think I would ever want to go back and relive those days even if I was given the chance to. I am very pleased with where my life is now. I have an awesome wife, a good job and I’m SUPER excited for the next huge step in our life, Dominic!
So I heard on the news maybe last night or the night before, “fritz is coming back with your weather and he said we’ll have to put away those sweaters” which made me think ok, it’s nearly May the heat is going to start coming.
Not what happened, we get a warm day yesterday and then today, hello almost 100 where the heck did you come from all of the sudden. GRRRR I hate the heat. Above 75 and I can’t stand it!
OK venting aside, today seemed like a good day to head to the coast and enjoy some relief. Lori and I loaded into the car and drove towards PCH. It was a nice ride and the coast had a nice refreshing breeze. We drove from Long Beach to Laguna via PCH.
When we landed in Laguna I decided to park at my childhood favorite spot, Divers Cove. It was under construction, well the Heisler Park part was being revamped. So we walked down to the beach and then hopped on the rocks and walked out around the cove. As I stated, this is the spot I used to come to as a kid and I used to play on those rocks, bodyboard and snorkel around the cove.
This also happens to be the spot where I took Lori 4+ years ago to purpose (04/04/04 at 4pm!) So it was nice to visit and remember the moment and also for me to remember my childhood moments as well. We also were able to dream about how fun it would be to bring little Dominic here to play when he gets old enough.
We headed up and took over to the Mexician food place down the way. They were busy but we got in on the patio pretty quickly and had nice lunch. Great chips, salsa and guacamole and we each ordered the Tostadas which were super tasty!
This trip served a few good purposes: getting out while we still can and while Lori is still able to move, reliving our engagement moment, escaping the CRAPPY heat, seeing some nice scenery and allowing me to capture more practice footage with the new camera.
So here’s a clip of some of today’s adventures:
Today we went to do a 3D/4D ultrasound of our baby. They confirmed a few things for us:
He is most definitely a BOY!
He is colored gold!
His name will be Dominic Angelo Alberico
Ok so they didn’t confirm his name, but we’re finally telling everyone!
Here are a few screen captures they took for us.

It’s probably a little too early to tell who he looks more like, but here’s a photo of each of us:

I’ve also uploaded the video they gave us:
Overall it was a very cool experience!
Trying on this hat, at the Village Hat Shop in Shoreline Village, brought out much laughter! I still need to find a Mustache Rides T-Shirt to take a picture in before I lop this thing off!

Sorry for the crappy pic, cameraphones suck!
BEGIN LONG POST:
Yesterday was a busy day for Lori and I.
We started the day at 9am with our Tax appointment. I always feel stressed and unprepared going into my tax appointments… though my tax lady always assures me I’ve done well preparing paperwork. We ended up skating by this year thanks large in part to me bumping up my 401K contributions in the last 3 months of the year. So we end up getting breadcrumbs from the state and a few slices of bread from the Federal. What a relief, we get money back after all and I’m glad we don’t OWE any taxes! I can’t wait until next year… bring on the “little” dependent!
Next stop was Babies ‘R Us to register for little “guido”. That took about an hour and a half and by the end of it my mind was NUMB and I wanted to just leave the store! I thought we registered for a lot of stuff but apparently there are things we missed so Lori’s going back to add stuff probably on a daily basis! Though, on the way out I saw the coolest/cutest little Hawaiian shirt and I nearly cried. I shot it with the register gun I can’t wait to put our little guy in his first Hawaiian shirt!!
Next we headed to Whittier to a baby furniture store to look and or buy. Before arriving, we stopped for lunch at the El Pollo Loco and sat near some CHiPs who were telling some pretty crazy stories. They kind of helped us to end our lunch early and move on.
We arrived at the store looked around and saw stuff we liked. We knew going into this place that their prices and quality were better than Babies R Us and other larger/chain stores, also if you spent over $1000 they’d throw in a free (almost $40 value) mattress for the crib and that most of their stuff is available for pickup pretty quickly.
The owner guy came up and asked if we had any questions and since we were already well informed and the prices were clearly indicated, the only question I had for the guy was, “what kind of cash discount do you offer.” He played confused and I explained it again, “If I bring you 100 dollar bills, what kind of price can you give me?” His eyes light up and he said “oh yes, we can definitely save you money because then we, uh don’t have to pay credit card processing fees…”
So we had him put together a quote on and armoire, dresser/changing table, adjustable 4-in-1 crib and a glider. He ended up upgrading our “free” mattress to the second best one they offered ($110 value) and also gave us a good discount which just so happened to round down to a multiple of 100 :)
I said OK and I told him I’d be back in 10 minutes after I hit up the BofA down the street. Quick withdrawal there, came back and paid for it all and loaded up the dresser and crib and then made an appointment to pick up the glider and armoire for the following Thursday.
Next we headed home and I began to re-arrange the second bedroom. The plan is to move my computer into the corner of our bedroom. Since I had the second bedroom setup as an office, this also meant router and coax had to move. Luckily when I first setup the network I had most of the distribution running from the living room to the other rooms so It really was just a matter of moving the FIOS coax from the 2nd bedroom to the living room and then moving the existing sat/tv coax and ethernet to another spot in our bedroom.
My dad came over to help move stuff and (since I have a touch of claustrophobia) he happily climbed under the house and helped re-route the coax and ethernet. It only took us about 15 minutes to do so and re-terminate.
After this was done we loaded up our dining table, chairs and couch chair to bring over to my dad’s house. Our dining table has always been too large for the two of us and we decided to get a more reasonable sized table and set of chairs. The couch chair and ottoman we haven’t used since we’ve moved so it was in the way. I dropped off that stuff and headed home.
On my way home I got a call from Keith inviting me along with a few other guys from church, to celebrate his birthday at the TGI Friday’s. It seemed that first rounds *had* to be black and tans, which was fine by me. I ended up having two and they were quite refreshing. After the first round a “blue” something was ordered which just looked like a LARGE chick drink. It was passed around I snapped a few photos of people posing with the large effeminate drink. Overall it was a It was a fun evening which ended with a few challenges. The first was to eat 6 Saltine crackers in a minute. The second was to eat a teaspoon full of cinnamon. Both challenges disallowed water and were pretty funny to watch. I capped some photos and video on my crappy camera phone, I’ll post them if they turned out half way decent.
Long day, Long Post, if you made it this far you win the prize! Press the red button to find out what it is!
Happy Anniversary Lori! I can’t believe it’s been 3 Years already!
I love you even more and I can’t wait to share our love with our baby!
